    Media nodes

Bring content into your Spaces workflows. Import files from your computer, browse your personal library, or search Freepik's stock collection.

Media nodes are the entry points of your workflow. They bring content into your Space so other nodes can work with it. Every creative workflow starts somewhere, and media nodes are that somewhere.

    Your three options

NodeWhat it doesWhen to use it
UploadImport files from your computerYou have specific files on your device that you want to use.
AssetsBrowse your personal Freepik libraryYou want to reuse something you created or uploaded before.
StockSearch Freepik's stock libraryYou need a reference image, background, or starting point.

All three are source nodes. They have no input ports. They are where things begin, not where things flow into.

    Upload

Upload opens a file picker to import images, videos, and audio from your computer directly into your Space. It is the fastest way to get your own content onto the canvas.

    How to use it

Search for Upload in Spotlight or the node panel. A file picker dialog opens — Upload is not a persistent node, it is a one-time action. Select one or more files and each one appears as a Creation node on the canvas, ready to connect.

    Supported formats

    TypeFormats
    ImagesJPG, PNG, WebP
    VideosMP4, WebM
    AudioCommon audio formats

    Output ports

The Creation node you get depends on what you upload.

    • Image produces an image output port.
    • Video produces a video output port plus start frame and end frame outputs (useful for frame-based workflows).
    • Audio produces an audio output port.

    Use cases

    • Reference photo for generation. Upload a photo, then connect it to an Image Generator's reference port to guide the AI.
    • Upscale a video clip. Upload a video file and connect it to the Video Upscaler.
    • Add audio to video. Upload an audio track and wire it into a Video Audio Mix node alongside a generated video.

    Assets

Assets opens your personal media library. Every image, video, and audio file you have created or uploaded across all of Freepik's tools is here. It is your creative history, right inside Spaces.

    How to use it

Search for Assets in Spotlight. A panel opens showing your full Freepik library. Browse your projects and folders, find what you need, and drag items directly onto the canvas. Each item becomes a Creation node with the appropriate output ports.

    Use cases

    • Reuse a previous generation. Find an image you generated last week and use it as a reference for new variations.
    • Continue a workflow. Pull in a creation from another project to keep building on it.
    • Organize and remix. Use your project folders to keep assets tidy, then drag them into new workflows.
Assets includes everything from all Freepik tools, not just Spaces. Anything you have created or uploaded anywhere in Freepik shows up here.

    Stock

Stock (also labeled Find Inspiration in some views) opens a search panel connected to the Freepik stock library. Stock content is included with your Freepik subscription.

This node is being rolled out gradually and may not be available in your account yet.

    How to use it

Search for Stock in Spotlight. A search panel opens. Type what you are looking for, browse the results, and drag anything you like onto the canvas. Each item becomes a Creation node with the appropriate output ports.

    Use cases

    • Find a reference image. Search for 'sunset beach', drag a stock photo onto the canvas, and connect it to an Image Generator's reference port.
    • Start a removal workflow. Find a product photo, connect it to Remove Background, then create variations from the result.
    • Get inspired. Browse trending content to spark creative ideas and kick off new workflows.

    How media nodes work

All three media nodes work the same way under the hood. When you select content (by uploading, browsing, or searching), each item lands on the canvas as a Creation node. Creation nodes have output ports based on the content type: an image gets an image output, a video gets video and frame outputs, audio gets an audio output.

From there, you connect those outputs to whatever comes next in your workflow. A photo might go to an Image Generator as a reference, to an Image Upscaler for enhancement, or to a Designer node for a layout.

Uploaded content is saved to your Freepik account automatically, so you can access it later from Assets without uploading again.

    Tips and best practices

Upload multiple files at once. Each file becomes its own Creation node on the canvas. No need to repeat the process one by one.

Use Assets folders to stay organized. If you work on multiple projects, organize your assets into folders so they are easy to find when you need them in a workflow.

Drag multiple assets at once. In the Assets panel, select several items and drag them all onto the canvas to create multiple Creation nodes in one go.

Be specific with Stock searches. "Golden retriever puppy on grass" gets you much better results than just "dog".

Stock images make great AI references. Find a stock photo with the composition or style you want, then connect it as a reference to an Image Generator. It gives the model something concrete to work with.

Video uploads include frame outputs. When you upload a video, the system automatically extracts start and end frames as separate output ports. Useful if you need a still from a specific moment.

Stock content is included with your subscription. No extra cost for using Freepik stock images in your workflows.

Use specific search terms in Stock. Descriptive queries like "sunset over ocean with sailboat" return better results than single words like "sunset."
